Monday through Friday is typically a time for work, exercise and even monitoring what we eat. The weekend, however, is when we put some of these strict behaviors behind us and enjoy the fruits of our labors. On this, the last day of the work week, I thought I would share an image that cannot help but give us the wonderful sugary boost needed, while being topped with some tasty fruit as well.

Last weekend we were invited to a wedding food tasting by our good friends Amy and David. As we are both newlyweds, they felt we would be the perfect match to critique and assist other friends in planning the food for their upcoming nuptials. As we entered the large room, it was filled with elegantly decorated tables settings, rich draperies and wonderfully presented samples of their finest culinary choices. At the front of the room were several long tables covered with small, two-bite sized dessert items that were truly a level above all others. Naturally, I was immediately compelled to investigate.

Sweet Creations by Maria had prepared these wonderful treats. In talking with the owner, I learned they are a specialty company located in Boca Raton providing a wide variety of goodness that is just as appealing to the eye as it is in the mouth. Whether it is an elegant party, corporate function or the highest level of wedding, they can deliver beautiful works of art that offer just the right amount of after-dinner sweetness many of us desire. These miniature morsels also allow the guests to enjoy many different tastes while maintaining a respectable appearance on their plate.

This image was made with my new Canon 5D Mark 3. I used this setting to test its abilities in difficult, low lighting. I was pleased with the results. The colors are rich and the focus was sharp. A wide aperture allowed for my preferred soft background style for this type image. I left the frame slightly dark to preserve some of the true ambiance of the room.
