NATURE :: Morning Glow on Beach Rocks

Image

Chip Bunnell Photography Beach SunriseI had another opportunity to visit one of my favorite morning spots in South Florida to greet the sunrise.  This area is particularly interesting to me as it is one of the few places around with some sizable boulders to give interest to the foreground in the composition.

On this particular morning, there was a small off-shore storm, which gave some interesting clouds and trails from the rain in the distance.  The golden light cast a wonderful highlight on the top edge of the crashing waves.  After the energy was expended, the water became a soft, foamy flow along the sand as it waited to retreat to the ocean, only to crash on the same rocks just minutes later.  Each boulder was bathed in salt water leaving a rich, reflective sheen.

LOCATION :: Sunrise at the Wave

Image

Chip Bunnell Photography Florida BeachFt Lauderdale beach had long been famous for the premiere destination for college spring breakers from around the world.  In 1986, the city decided to change its image and voted for a $47M+ makeover.  Part of this make over included the construction of the now iconic 2 mile long “wavewall.”  It gently flows in and out of the beach as it makes it path north and south through the middle of the beach action.  The beach is dotted with unique lifeguard stations and lined with incredible flowing palm trees.  Even after the beach area renovations there are a few things that remain the same…over 7 miles of gorgeous sand, incredible blue waters and plenty of bikinis as far as the eye can see.

As a long-time Floridian, the multiple days of non-stop rain can bring you down.  This image is to brighten the day and remind us that the sun will come out again.
